Demolition Derby at Coors

In the top of the sixth inning moments ago, Giancarlo Stanton continued his dominance at Coors Field. With Miami down 5-4, Stanton’s solo blast to center tied the game. This is Stanton’s fifth home run in his fifth career game in Denver.

My initial view of the distance came via the field diagram on, which shows the homer to have landed well into the seats in centerfield past the 420 foot marker. I am guessing this one will be measured at least around 470 feet. I just saw the video on Baseball Tonight. It was possibly the hardest hit ball I’ve ever seen.

Update #1: Just in from the Marlins on twitter: Estimated distance of 474 feet.

That figure is equivalent to last season’s blast at Coors, almost exactly one year ago.

Update #2: And now the morning after:

ESPN Home Run Tracker has this one measured at 494 feet, the longest in all of baseball for 2012.
