Nolas-Goes the Distance

Minutes ago, Ricky Nolasco finished off the Washington Nationals with a complete game, 9-0, 5-hit shutout. Nolasco, who did not allow a base hit until the fifth, defeated Stephen Strasburg to earn his tenth win of the year.

Justin Ruggiano’s first inning home run was all Miami needed, but they tacked on eight extra in the rout of the Nationals. Ruggiano was 4-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Giancarlo Stanton went 3-4 with 3 RBI. Greg Dobbs drove in a pair, and Carlos Lee and Donovan Solano each had ribbis of their own.

Tomorrow night, the Marlins and Nats play the second and final game of this short set. Next weekend, the two teams meet in D.C..
